Host: A pleasant day to all! Today were going to discuss on who is responsible for our understanding in a certain topic. Is it the listener or the speaker?  And to give us clarity regarding this issue we have invited some guest. Today we have (me) Juan, a self profess “active listener”.  And joining her is (me) Too, also a self profess “effective speaker”. This discussion is going to be tough. Let’s start        with (me) Juan.

 (me) Juan:  Good day to all! As a listener myself I believe that it is that listener responsibility to understand or catch up with the speaker. I know that it takes a hard work to be an active listener;  we must be able to do this:

v  We should apply the massage to our self.

v  Pick out the key word.

v  You must analyze and interpret the message carefully.

v  We must provide a feed back to the speaker (it could be facial expression or sound effects). To encourage the speaker.

Like what I just said being an active listener is a hard work. But it is our responsibility to comprehend what the speaker is saying.

Host: Now let’s give the floor to (me) Too.

 (me) Too: Greetings every one! I know that miss (me) Juan has a very strong point, but I’m going to disagree with her. I believe that it is the speaker’s responsibility to make the listener understand what his talking about. An effective speaker must do these things.

v  The speaker must make eye contact to the people his talking.

v  The speaker must elaborate the point.

v  The speaker must show honest emotion (be natural).

v  The speaker must use some gesture to help the people understand you better.

Being an effective speaker requires knowledge and skills to be able to deliver his message well. That‘s why it’s the speakers responsibility to make sure that the people understand what he/she talking about.

Host: now let’s hear what the verdicts decision.

Verdict: Both of them said very strong point regarding this topic. And after much deliberation we decide that it’s tie.  We think that it’s both the speaker and listener responsibility to understand the topic. Both of them play a major rule in comprehension. If one of them is missing there will be an imbalance in comprehension.

Dreams Do Come True

Sometimes we are over power by a persons appearance that we tend to forget or consider their ability/capabilities. A perfect example of this is Susan Boyle . She is a victim of misjudgment/stereotyping of the people(vulture). But all of that change when she stared singing, they were all shock that a 47 year old woman has a voice that could change the perception of a person towards others (make you re-evaluate yourself). After her performance on the song "I dream A dream" (from Les Misérables) she receive a standing ovation from the people who doubted her in the beginning. From that moment on she felt accepted and got her worth as a person. I'm just one of the millions of people who was inspired by her, she made me realize that it's never to late for our dreams to come true. I may not have achieve something as big as hers, but  I will continue dreaming that someday they will see my worth as person.

Manifestation

We usually base our judgment on the persons appearance, the color of the skin, the way his eyes, nose,lips,ears match to his face, and sometimes it is the basis of a persons  intelligence. And who's to blame ? Non other than the media. It totally change the whole concept of beauty that BEAUTY= POWER (FAME) + RESPECT and with that formula you are "untouchable". That's the reason why we keep on seeking ways on how to enhance our beauty or maintain our youth. Instead of helping us improve our self-esteem, it  only gives us pressure to look "nice" to blend with the society and it doesn't matter if your girl or boy (actually, boys are vain as girls but they don't show it.).I will not be hypocrite! I admit that I'am one of those insecure beings who wanted to be beautiful to attract attention and just blend with the rest of the world!. I grew up feeling beautiful because family always says so and I believe them. But that change when I reach my teenage years, "the time of insecurity".Those are the years were I think that beauty  is important because I always think that beauty is equal to brain and good attitude that the physical appearance of a person reflects it's identity or whatever. That's why I started comparing the features of  the pretties girl in school to mine and after that I was left with nothing just pity for myself and a feeling that I'm the ugliest girl in school. I know it's wrong to compare but I can't help it. Until one day with my  immature mind I snap out of it. I told myself that I don't need to be tall, have a perfect complexion and a beautiful face to belong I just need a "PERSONALITY"  and to understand that there is more to beauty than meets the stranger's eye.Also I don't need to belong to be accepted and loved.
 -Remember that what matters most is what's inside you (the beauty that never fades).
