As society progresses our way of living also progresses, and a big part of this is technology (computer, cellphones, laptops, etc.). The advancement of technology really made our life much easier; it's just unfortunate how we use that technology to harm others. Ethnocentrism popularly known as "racial discrimination". It is something that exist way back technology was born. Do you know what's the difference of discrimination in the past and now?, in the past they don't have what you call "technology", back then you can not do it worlds apart but now it's different. Here's how ,my sister work's at a call-center as an agent she receives about 35+ calls in 8 hours and when she comes home she usually complain how stressful her work is and she keeps on talking about the callers (client). Once she told us that there was a Australian guy who told her " I'm getting Frustrated!, because every time I call your company I always end up with an Asian Race" (hung-up) ,there was also a time when a guy ask her "your accent is funny, are an Malaysian, Indian, Filipino?, "I'm a Filipino sir, so what can I do for you?", " you mother f*****, Stupid B****, you connect me with an Australian, I don't want to talk to those who belong to the 3rd world society!". Sometimes when a caller hear that she has a different accent than what they have automatically they curse her then hung-up. Can you imagine it, they discriminate a person base on the accent they can't even see, feel, smell or even taste her, it's sad that the accent of a person gives them the right to judge, step or use profane language to them. All I know is that these people who discriminate other culture are un-happy people; that the only way that they could feel good to their self is to hurt others. PITY!!
